Monthly Amazonia Worldnews

This web view provides a multilingual coverage of the worldwide news published during the last month on Amazonia-related topics - it is providing a media stream capturing news articles published worldwide on these topics in 60+ languages. It includes on:

  • the right hand side the main topics present in the news articles captured on the daily basis presented as a word cloud, 

  • below the word cloud, the overall news sentiment is calculated (from negative (0) to very positive (1) for a chosen date) and shown in the map and the moving gauge, and on

  • the left hand side a list of daily news which you can scroll down and select to be redirected to the news source. 

For your convenience, a word cloud is shown to summarise the main concepts being discussed, captured as wikidata concepts agnostic to the language the news are written in. The sentiment analysis helps to understand emotional tone in daily news around the globe and thus we can gain insight into general public perceptions of landslide risks expressed by journalists and/or individuals.

 

Amazon News Topics

The Amazonia news media exposes insight from world and local news, aiming at identifying  landslide-related events from millions of worldwide multilingual news, and to exhibit best practices towards solving landslide-related problems.  The dashboard provides subcategories that relate to the news query on Amazonia-related topics in the past year (e.g., in 2025 for 2024). This dashboard is developed in collaboration with EventRegistry.org, ingesting about 600k news articles in 60+ languages worldwide.

 

AMAZONIA Research Evolution

On this dashboard we observe the relation between the concepts (edges) relevant to the Amazonia research and the interconnections between these concepts, being stronger or weaker according to the amount of published articles, where these are topics in common. These scientific trends are automatically extracted from the metadata sourced by OpenAlex.org initiative. With this dashboard we can explore the topic coverage of some of the key topics in Amazonia-related knowledge domains in scientific research.

In this view, you can explore the various topics and subtopics associated with existing initiatives that are dedicated to advancing specific objectives related to the selected SDG.
